Kevin Hatchard has claimed that Newcastle United won’t be signing Liverpool transfer target Nicolo Barella from Inter this summer.

The European football expert added that there’s ‘genuine’ interest from Eddie Howe’s side for the Italy intentional, but he is ‘enjoying life’ at his boyhood club.

Nicolo Barella recently helped Inter reach the Champions League final, only to get beaten by Treble-winning Manchester City, with Hatchard adding that the rumoured ‘£50 million’ fee being put on the table is ‘way too low’, as he told talkSPORT.

Now that Newcastle are playing against the elite, they are trying to push for those top, top players and Barella is certainly one of them.

Jurgen Klopp labelled the 26-year-old as ‘aggressive’ and someone who could ‘run all day’, well, it’s no surprise that Liverpool also wants to sign him.

Nonetheless, this is what Hatchard had to say about Barella and how it’s likely that he stays put at the San Siro this summer.

On Barella moving: “I don’t think so,” said Hatchard. “I don’t doubt the interest (from Newcastle), it’s genuine.

“But I have been told. A), he’s not in a massive rush to leave Inter. He’s an Inter fan. He is enjoying life there, at the moment. He is enjoying life in Italy.

“The other side of it is the figures that have been reported around about £50 million. Way too low for what Inter would want.”

Barella would be a statement signing

At the end of the day, money talks and if clubs in the Premier League want to go to the next level, then sometimes you have to put your money where your mouth is.

Albeit a less proven star, the Magpies did that with Alexander Isak last summer when they secured his talents for a club-record fee.

Yet, fast forward to the present, and he is looking like a diamond of a capture, as the same might need to happen with Barella.
