Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has shared an update about Antonio Conte and PSG after his proposed move to Tottenham hit a speedbump.

Depending on who you believe, Spurs’ move for Conte has either hit a snag or collapsed completely, but Castles is led to believe that the Italian is holding out for the PSG job.

However, there is one problem with that, the players in Paris have apparently told the chairman that they do not want Conte to take over.

What’s been said?

Castles was speaking about Conte’s chances of getting the PSG job, and he says that the players in Paris do not want him to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

“Will he get it? Conte if he’s proposed? Well, the players at PSG, I’m told, are already aware of the prospect of Conte replacing Pochettino and they’ve already spoken to Nasser Al-Khelaifi who is the senior Qatar figure at the club, and they do not want Conte at the club. He has such a reputation within football that he has players from one of the biggest clubs in football saying please do not hire this man, we know how he works, we don’t want to be working under him.”

Interesting for Spurs

This news will certainly have repercussions for Tottenham.

Spurs have been linked to both Pochettino and Conte in recent weeks, so the situation at PSG will affect them massively.

Conte not being able to get the PSG job may give Spurs a greater chance of landing the Italian, but the fact that he’s not looking likely to replace Pochettino may mean that PSG want to keep hold of their manager.

The manager market is in a crazy state at the moment, and it seems as though there may be a few more twists and turns before Tottenham actually appoint their new boss.
