Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Ian McGarry has claimed that Liverpool are interested in signing Bukayo Saka from Arsenal.
The England international has been making waves in the Premier League over the past 18 months, and while he’s seen as Arsenal’s future star man, Liverpool want to pinch him from the Gunners.
Indeed, McGarry claims that Liverpool are keen on the youngster, while the player and his representatives are also interested in a move to Anfield.
What’s been said about Saka?
The reporter shared what he knows about the Arsenal star.
“We’ll start with Liverpool and their interest in Bukayo Saka, the Arsenal attacker and England international who has been making a real impression with his recent performances,” McGarry said.
“We have reported on the Transfer Window Podcast that Liverpool are looking to the future in regards to the fact they expect to sell at least two of their attacking players. Saka is someone who is a player who suits Liverpool’s style. He’s dynamic in terms of the way he converts chances and also he’s someone who can play in different positions.”
McGarry then had a discussion about Saka’s value and how he’d fit into the Liverpool squad, before stating that Arsenal actually want to extend his contract.
“My understanding is that there have been talks with his representatives with regards to giving him a contract upgrade at Arsenal, they realise that they have a talent on their hands who could be worth a lot more money in the future, but also, from a sporting point of view, someone who is establishing himself as a starter in a team that has improved in recent months, and Saka has been a part of that process,” McGarry said.
However, while Arsenal may be keen to give Saka a new deal, McGarry would say later in the podcast that the player would be open to a move to Liverpool.
“Liverpool, as you rightly say, would be able to provide the opportunity and platform for him to play and compete at the highest level, and that would certainly be something that, I’m told, he and his representatives would be interested in,” McGarry said.

What a signing
What a signing this would be for Liverpool.
Yes, Saka isn’t in the mould of Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah in that he’s a natural-born goalscorer – after all, he only has 11 Premier League goals to his name in 78 appearances, but Jurgen Klopp could coach that into him if given the chance.
This is a player with enormous potential, and if the Reds can pry him away from the Emirates they would be getting a future superstar.
Of course, getting Saka out of Arsenal is easier said than done. The youngster is an academy graduate and he owes a lot to the London club.
Factor in that Arsenal are improving under Mikel Arteta and it’s fair to say that Saka may be inclined to give the Gunners a little bit more time.
