Speaking on the Anfield Watch YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has shared what he’s heard about Georginio Wijnaldum in recent days amid his links to Arsenal.

Wijnaldum is reportedly unhappy with his lack of playing time at PSG, and according to Sky Sports, Arsenal are a potential destination for him this month.

However, despite numerous links with a move away, Romano claims that the Dutchman remains 100 per cent focused on fighting for his place in Paris.

What’s Romano said about Wijnaldum?

The journalist shared what he knows about Wijnaldum’s situation, claiming that he received an update a few days ago.

“I was asking about the Wijnaldum situation a few days ago because we have the links to Newcastle and Arsenal, but from what I’m told, the player is still focused on fighting for PSG so I think he’s not going to leave in the short-term because he wants to change his situation. He wants to fight for his place and change his situation. Of course, he wants to play, and it’s not easy for him to come off the bench, let’s see what will happen, but at the moment he’s still focused on PSG. Let’s see if the situation will change,” Romano said.

Worth the wait

As Romano says, Wijnaldum’s situation could change towards the end of the month, but whether it’s Arsenal, Newcastle or even Liverpool that end up bringing him in, he could well be worth the wait.

The Dutchman is a proven commodity at this level, and he’d improve almost any team in the division.

Of course, you want to get your business done early, but as we should all know by now, the January window isn’t always easy to operate in.
