Speaking on the Don Robbie YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on Tottenham and Arsenal linked striker Dusan Vlahovic.

Vlahovic has been one of the hottest topics in this summer transfer window.

The towering striker netted 20 Serie A goals last term, and as you can imagine, he has attracted interest from some bigger clubs.

However, Fiorentina are trying their best to keep hold of their star man, and Romano says they’re going to offer him a new deal that includes a release clause.

What’s been said?

Romano shared an update on Vlahovic.

“In my personal opinion he will be one of the best strikers in the world in the next years if he shows his skills, he’s incredible, he’s a top professional and he can score in every way,” Romano said.

“He has everything in his skills. Fiorentina want to keep him. I’m told they’re trying to extend his contract and include a release clause in his contract. Atletico Madrid will bid €50m in the coming hours and days, trying to change the situation, but from what I’m told Fiorentina want more than this. Tottenham are interested in Vlahovic, and from what I’m told Arsenal are not pushing as of now.”

Smart move

As much as Tottenham and Arsenal fans may not like to hear this, Fiorentina are acting very smartly here.

They’re protecting their asset, while also giving him an assurance that he will be allowed to leave if a team coughs up the cash.

Of course, it remains to be seen how much this release clause will be, but if La Viola are batting away €50m bids, you’d have to imagine this clause will be sizeable.
