If rumours are believed, William Saliba is ‘fed up’ at Arsenal – and you can’t really blame him.
The 19-year-old joined the Gunners for £27 million 15 months ago but looks nowhere near Mikel Arteta’s plans this season, after returning to North London this past summer following a loan spell back in France last term.
The Arsenal boss didn’t even include him in the Europa League squad and last week the Spaniard expressed regret and sorrow that he left him out.
According to French outlet But Football, Saliba, who hasn’t made a competitive debut for the club yet, is growing frustrated over his lack of senior opportunities and wants to leave on loan in January.
So far, the young centre-back has been limited to Under-23 games under Steve Bould.
He is eligible to play in the Premier League, however, and some Arsenal fans to see Arteta start using him domestically. Here’s how they reacted to the report from his homeland:
Really, a loan wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Arsenal’s centre-back situation is set to improve dramatically over the coming weeks as long-term absentees Calum Chambers and Pablo Mari resume full training.
And with Gabriel, David Luiz, Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi already ahead of Saliba in the pecking order, it makes no sense for Arteta to keep the teenager in North London beyond January if he has no use for him.
