Jermaine Jenas has told BT Sport, during their live Europa League coverage, that he is shocked Tottenham Hotspur’s players didn’t attempt to pass the ball to Carlos Vinicius more often.

Vinicius really troubled the LASK defence with his runs in behind them last night, but he was not always picked out by a Tottenham teammate.

The Brazilian had one huge chance in the first-half, which he headed wide, but after that he wasn’t presented with many opportunities to score.

And Jenas has suggested that Spurs’s squad could have utilised the new signing more.

“Vinicius is making some good runs. I’m surprised they’re not trying to slide him in,” he said.

“They could have put him in there. You’d think they would want to get him off the mark.”

Jose Mourinho stated after the match that Vinicius still doesn’t speak a word of English, so he may have been effectively able to communicate when he wanted the ball.

Even with the apparent lack of service, Vinicius was still able to impress though.

The target-man claimed two assists on debut, as he helped to set up both Lucas Moura and Heung-Min Son to score in Tottenham’s 3-0 victory.

Vinicius’s impressive display increases the confidence that he has what it takes to cover for Harry Kane, and suggests he could be the player that Spurs have been needing to fill that role for a long time now.
