Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been giving his thoughts on Trent Alexander-Arnold and his recent defensive misfortunes.
The England right-back has had a tough time lately to say the least, he’s made numerous mistakes, and so many of the goals Liverpool are conceding have been coming down his side.
Seaman has been less than impressed by Alexander-Arnold, but he hasn’t laid the blame squarely on the full-back’s shoulders, stating that he’s being left 1vs1 against his attacker far too often.

Alexander-Arnold exposed
Seaman spoke about the defender and how he’s being exposed.
“The thing with Trent is that he’s getting exposed. He’s getting left 1vs1 and at this moment in time he’s not winning all of those battles, and there’s a little weakness there. If Trent bombs forward there’s usually a gap in behind him and I’m sure Jurgen is working on that,” Seaman says.
How to fix it?
The pundit is absolutely spot on here, Alexander-Arnold is being left one-vs-one far too often, and when you have concerns about your right-backs defensive ability that can’t happen.
So, how do Liverpool fix this?
Well, either Virgil van Dijk or Jordan Henderson have to do a better job of covering, but in order to do that, Liverpool must be better in terms of shape off the ball.
The Anfield outfit were being dragged all over the park by Arsenal’s attack at the weekend, leaving Alexander-Arnold exposed, and they can’t allow that to happen if they’re going to be a solid defensive unit.
Liverpool need to be disciplined and work hard if they’re going to solve their current issues at the back.
