Jermaine Jenas has told BT Sport that he is convinced that Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho will come under pressure from Daniel Levy now.
Tottenham’s defeat against Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League last night has plunged Mourinho’s future into more doubt.
Already there had been suggestions that Mourinho’s job was coming under some threat, but a recent run of positive results seemed to ease the pressure.
However, after a defeat to Arsenal and now Zagreb, the Tottenham boss is now facing more calls than ever before to go from supporters.
And Jenas is convinced that Daniel Levy will have taken note of Tottenham’s poor performances in their last two outings.
“It shouldn’t be happening,” Jenas said.
“The last two performances that this football club have put together are unacceptable and they don’t go unnoticed. Not just to the fans but I’m sure to the hierarchy at this football club. They will expect a lot more from the investment they put in in the summer.”
Tottenham’s defeat last night surely ranks up there as one of the most embarrassing European nights in the club’s history.
In truth, though, Spurs have put in far too many insipid displays this season.
Mourinho is now facing serious questions, and it is hard to see how he stays in the job, unless he can spark an immediate improvement – which seems increasingly unlikely.
