Speaking on US TV station ESPN, Craig Burley has claimed that Tottenham could be offered Romelu Lukaku in a swap deal for Harry Kane.
Lukaku’s future has been at the centre of a lot of speculation as of late, and Burley was asked about the possibility of Lukaku heading to Spurs and Kane moving to Chelsea.
To be honest, it’s a move that makes a lot of sense. Kane wants to join a club that will challenge for silverware, and Chelsea are European champions, while Lukaku absolutely adores Antonio Conte.

Burley was asked about a potential swap deal.
“I mean, to get all that to happen would be difficult I think, but that’s not the most outlandish thing I’ve ever heard because Conte and Lukaku were at Inter and had a successful time. I suppose somebody may ask the question, I don’t know,” Burley said.
The ex-Chelsea man then spoke about why Kane would be open to a move to Chelsea, claiming that they’re in a better position than Spurs to challenge for trophies.
“They’re in a much better position Chelsea to put a run together and continue than Tottenham, I know they’re unbeaten under Conte and have been better, they’re not in the calibre of Chelsea in terms of the squad. I don’t know if that’s a deal that could be spoken about, I’m sure it could be.”
Makes sense
The more you think about it, the more this move makes sense.
Kane was quite open about the fact he wanted to leave Spurs in the summer, while Lukaku has made it clear this week that he isn’t best pleased at Chelsea.
A move back to Inter may not be on the cards, but a reunion with Conte could be the next best thing for the Belgian who has previously been called ‘exceptional’ by his national team manager.
Both strikers are of a similar calibre, and it’s hard to say that either party would be getting a bad deal if this move were to happen.
