Antonio Conte has claimed that striker Harry Kane is ‘on the right path’ toward becoming a goal machine for Tottenham Hotspur again.
So far this season, Kane’s managed to fire in just a solitary goal for Tottenham in 13 Premier League appeerances which, for someone like him, is a relatively horrible return.
Thursday night against Brentford was another frustrating evening for Kane, even if his all-round performance was relatively good on the night.
But Conte isn’t concerned by the lack of goals, claiming it’s only a matter of time before he explodes in North London once again.
He told Football London: “I’m sure Harry is going to score many goals. I’m very pleased for the way that he’s playing. Then I know the striker wants to score but we want to give him many chances to score.
“I think we’re on the right path to do this type of situation.”
Class is permanent
As mentioned, Kane has only netted once in the Premier League.
But the Lilywhites hitman also has a stunning seven goals in the Carabao Cup and Europa Conference League.
And on international duty with England, Kane, again, bagged himself seven in two games during the November break.
There’s nothing wrong with his form in other competitions, or for other clubs. But the Premier League is proving quite troublesome for him right now.
Listen, it’s an enormous cliche, but the old adage certainly rings true: form is temporary, class is permanent.
Remember, this isn’t Conte’s first rodeo. The Italian has won silverware in two different countries – Italy and England – and if he feels that Kane is on the brink of being, well, Harry Kane again, that’s very significant.
Tottenham are home to Norwich City on Sunday afternoon and don’t be surprised if the hitman reminds everyone what a phenomenon he is in front of goal, proving his manager right again.
