Liverpool target Talles Magno is all-but certain to be packing his bags for Europe sooner rather than later, Vasco da Gama teammate and captain Leandro Castan has told Goal.

A year after Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League leaders snapped up Harvey Elliott and Sepp Van der Berg from Fulham and PEC Zwolle respectively, it seems that another superstar-in-waiting could be on his way to Anfield.

BolaVip reports that Liverpool have joined the likes of Benfica, Lazio and Juventus in the race for Magno, who is already wearing the number 11 shirt for Vasco da Gama despite only making his senior debut in 2019.

What’s more, the Brazilian giants are understood to be considering offers of around £900,000, which surely makes taking a punt on Magno even more tempting.

And Castan, the former Roma centre-back who has watched another Samba starlet explode on to the scene, believes that his young teammate will soon follow in the footsteps of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo Goes, Antony and Reinier Jesus.

“He [Talles] has a strong mentality, and that’s a virtue that must be praised,” Castan says.

“Some people at Roma have asked me about him, but then the director found him to be quite expensive! I’m sure he’ll be leaving for Europe sooner or later.”

The 6ft 1ins teenager would have to be patient at Anfield with established internationals like Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi spending much of their time on Merseyside collecting dust on the sidelines.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool would loan Magno out for a year or two, or entrust the club’s respected youth staff to hone his considerable talents in one of Britain’s most successful academies.
