Wolverhampton Wanderers have this week announced a new business venture in the form of Wolves Records.
The West Midlands club took to Twitter to reveal that the Premier League side have teamed up with record titans Warner Music to launch Wolves Records, a new audio platform for aspiring musicians.
As per the club’s official website, Wolves Records is an ‘ambitious’ and ‘unique proposition’ that aims to unit upcoming musical talents through the medium of football.
Wolves’ general manager of marketing and commercial growth Russell Jones said: “Wolves Records is an ambitious and progressive project that we have been working on for some time, and we are delighted to finally be able to announce it publicly.”
To say the concept is unique would be an understatement. Whilst there’s no denying the links football and music have between one another, no club has gone as far as to connect the two as deliberately as Wolves Records.
Indeed, it will be interesting to see how the idea plays out. Whilst it might sound outlandish on paper, using football as a tool to promote new musical talents could be a venture that results in some success.

And for some Wolves fans on social media, they were astonished by the announcement from the club. After all, it’s not every day your football team reveals they’re starting a record label.
