Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho refused to speak about Harry Kane or Heung-Min Son when asked about the pair by BBC Radio Five Live.

Son and Kane scored Tottenham’s goals yesterday as they picked up a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.

The pair were back to their best, as Spurs ultimately cruised to victory against Sam Allardyce’s side.

But Mourinho did not want all the attention to be on his usual headline grabbers, as he felt Spurs put in an excellent team performance.

And when asked about the quality of Kane and Son’s display, Mourinho said: “I am sorry I am not going to speak about Kane and Son because all the guys on the pitch were fantastic and they gave everything.”

If there was any doubting Kane’s importance to Tottenham’s team then it was highlighted again yesterday.

Spurs have looked abject with their main striker injured, but his return breathed new life into their attack once again.

Spurs just function so much better when Kane is fit, and their mission will be to keep him off the treatment table from now until the end of the season now.

Tottenham’s victory has lifted them up to within four points of the top four, and they have a game in hand.
