Alessandro Del Piero has warned the Tottenham players that Antonio Conte could be banning ‘much more’ food items if he could, as he told ESPN.
The Italian legend played alongside and under Conte during his playing days at Juventus and he knows exactly what his fellow countryman is like.
Tottenham fans must still be opening their eyes wide thinking how on earth they managed to lure a man of Conte’s calibre to their club.
Equally, the Spurs players will be learning the harsh realities of what they can and can’t do under his stewardship.
Some of them includes not being able to eat foods such as ketchup and mayo, according to the Athletic
But Del Piero made it clear that in order to be ‘perfect’ you have to follow such strict protocols and he agrees with what Conte is doing.
“It’s only five items, by the way, it’s supposed to be much, much more,” said Del Piero.
“I have a question mark about Pizza because you can deal with that. But the other ones I completely agree.
“We are living in a period of football where alimentation and nutrition, it’s so important.
“Yes, when you play a lot of games on that kind of level, you need to perform at that level, then you need to be perfect. I am sorry, I agree with him.”
Whatever Conte does or doesn’t do, one thing is pretty clear and this is that his methods are proven.
He has won league titles wherever he has walked, including at Chelsea.
He would go down in the legendary books in North London if he wins the Premier League title and perhaps go down as one of the best feats ever in recent times.
Of course, all of that is a dream yet, but it’s what Conte does and it’s what he will be aiming for in the long run.
