Speaking on Manchester City’s YouTube channel, Bernardo Silva has been choosing his dream Premier League XI made up of Portuguese players.

Unfortunately for Silva, his team contains a number of players from City’s biggest rivals.

Inevitably, Cristiano Ronaldo earned a spot in the frontline, while one the line was led by a player from City’s biggest rivals right now, as Silva chose Liverpool’s Diogo Jota as his number nine.

What’s been said?

Silva chose Jota alongside Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo in his frontline.

“I’m going to with the right winger, Nani. Striker, Diogo Jota and then on the left I’m going to go with Cristiano. I have two Chelsea players, two United and one Liverpool, so I’m sorry,” Silva said.

Best Portuguese striker

Diogo Jota may only be 25 years old, but he’s arguably already the best Portuguese striker to ever play in the Premier League.

Cristiano Ronaldo was a winger during his first spell at Old Trafford, and while he may be more of a centre-forward these days, he’s not scoring anywhere near as many goals as Jota.

The Premier League hasn’t been blessed with the greatest Portuguese number nines, Jota’s main competitors are arguably Eder, Ricardo Vaz Te and Helder Postiga, so the bar isn’t incredibly high in that position.

Jota’s legacy will only grow in years to come, but he’s already one of the finest Portuguese players this league has ever seen.
