Gabriel Martinelli has insisted that he’s fit and ready to play for Arsenal despite a lack of opportunities as of late.
The Brazilian wonderkid was injured for most of the first half of the campaign and has had a couple of minor knocks since.
But despite being fully fit now, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hasn’t been giving him all that many chances.
The 19-year-old hasn’t played for the Gunners since the 0-0 draw with Manchester United, when he was taken off at half time.
Martinelli has since failed to make it off the bench in defeats against Wolves and Aston Villa.
But the teenager, a £6 million signing in 2019, has insisted to ESPN that his lack of chances isn’t related to a lack of fitness.
He said: “I’m feeling very good. I don’t feel any more pain on my knee and this is the most important thing. I’m ready ) when Mikel needs me”
Arteta’s side are home to Leeds United tomorrow and there is growing pressure on the Spaniard to use Martinelli.
He’s one of the most electric attacking players in this Arsenal squad and the 38-year-old coach will face fierce criticism from fans if he continues to overlook him in favour of Willian who, despite being a big name in English football, hasn’t come anywhere near to proving himself a good signing as of yet.
