Luis Diaz has been tipped to explode at Liverpool.
The Reds snapped up Diaz for £49 million from Porto during the January transfer window [Sky Sports].
Despite never playing English football before, the 25-year-old has taken to life at Liverpool like a duck to water and he’s only going to get better – much better.
That is according to club legend John Aldridge, who believes that that the Colombia international hasn’t even begun dazzling the Premier League and Champions League yet.
He told The Echo: “If Liverpool didn’t sign him then they wouldn’t be where they are right now, I’m pretty sure of that. He’s helped us keep on top of achieving the quadruple. He’s been unbelievable since he’s come in, but he’ll get better.”
Is Diaz starting Champions League final?
After helping Liverpool to an FA Cup title this past weekend, Klopp described the player as ‘insane‘ – and that’s probably why he was nowhere to be seen on Tuesday as the German’s side edged out Southampton.
The Reds manager named a weakened side, with one eye on the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Paris on May 28.
And given Diaz’s omission, yes it’s very probable that he will be starting against Carlo Ancelotti’s side in a couple of weeks.
Spare a thought for Tottenham Hotspur, who thought they were signing him during the winter, with Antonio Conte admitting earlier in May that the South American is quite simply a ‘top player‘.
Diaz starting the Champions League final makes complete sense and Aldridge is right – he is going to get so much better and it’s genuinely fascinating to see how influential he’ll be next term, with six months of English football under his belt.
