Some Tottenham Hotspur fans are reacting to Mauricio Pochettino’s latest setback.

In what is quite a big shock, Paris Saint-Germain, comprised of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, lost 2-0 away to Rennes this afternoon.

Pochettino, who was fired by Tottenham in 2019, has arguably the most formidable offence in the history of the game and yet it wasn’t enough today.

The Argentine was said to be under pressure in the French capital after Lille won the Ligue 1 title last season, culminating in speculation about the 49-year-old being linked with a return to North London.

In the end, Daniel Levy hired former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo but, despite this afternoon’s 2-1 win at home to Aston Villa, the Portuguese coach is far from safe after losing his last three Premier League games priot to the Villans’ visit.

And in light of PSG’s defeat today, some Lilywhites fans want Levy to re-appoint Pochettino.

Will PSG sack Pochettino?

Well, not right now.

Despite this defeat, the French giants are still six points clear at the summit of Ligue 1 and the midweek win over Manchester City in the Champions League means that Pochettino is safe for now.

But winning Ligue 1 won’t be anywhere near enough to save the former Spurs boss.

With Messi in your squad and a win over Pep Guardiola’s side, Pochettino really needs to lift the Champions League trophy this season to guarantee he’ll be around next term.

As for the Tottenham, well this 2-1 win over Villa sort of papers over the cracks.

It buys Nuno nothing but another game and that’s how Levy will more than likely be looking at it.
