
Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter are calling on Jose Mourinho to start Joe Rodon in defence against Everton tonight.
A pretty ordinary season for Spurs could get a lot worse if they lose their fifth-round FA Cup tie at Goodison Park later today.
Tottenham, who sit eighth in the Premier League, haven’t won a trophy since 2008 and although they’re 90 minutes away from winning the League Cup ahead of an April final with Manchester City, Jose Mourinho still can’t afford to let another opportunity for silverware slip away after falling out of the title race.
Despite a mistake in a defeat by Liverpool last month, Rodon, an £11 million signing in October [BBC Sport], has impressed under the Portuguese coach this season.
Mourinho started Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez in last weekend’s victory over West Brom in North London.
But Everton away is likely to throw up a far tougher test for a defence that hasn’t looked solid this season – especially Sanchez.
And therefore, some Tottenham fans on social media want their manager to recall the powerful, towering Welshman – who stands at 6’4 – this evening.
