Speculation arose this week about Arsenal potentially signing Moussa Diaby.
According to the reliable Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports, the Gunners asked Bayer Leverkusen about potentially bringing the eight-goal winger to North London.
Arsenal are in the market for a new wide man following their failure to sign Mykhailo Mudryk, who has gone to Chelsea instead.
But will Mikel Arteta be signing Diaby this January? According to one journalist, no.
Christian Falk of Bild has revealed that although Diaby is a player liked by the Gunners – labelling him a ‘perfect option – their inability to afford Mudryk would indicate that the Leverkusen attacker is also off the table in that regard.

Falk told Give Me Sport: “If they give Diaby to Arsenal, he would be a perfect player because they didn’t get the other one. But he’s really in the same range, €70m plus €30m, which Chelsea paid for Mudryk. Arsenal said we couldn’t pay that, so I’m not sure if they get Diaby if that’s the amount they can’t pay.”
Fortunately, Arsenal are set to sign their Mudryk alternative.
According to BBC Sport, Arteta and Edu have struck a £21 million agreement for Leandro Trossard of Brighton & Hove Albion.
In fact, the 28-year-old Belgium international is even at London Colney this morning to undergo a medical, such is how advanced the negotiations are.
