Jamie O’Hara has claimed that he’s ‘not having’ Andros Townsend’s claim that he was being ‘respectful’ to Cristiano Ronaldo during Everton’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Saturday, as he told talkSPORT (04/10/21 at 9:55 am)
When Everton equalised at Old Trafford, through Townsend, he decided to copy Ronaldo’s iconic celebration and made it clear that he was doing it because the Man United superstar is his ‘idol’.
Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had opted to start with Ronaldo on the bench for the game, before bringing him on as a sub in the second half.
When Townsend did his celebration, TV pictures showed Ronaldo trying to rally his teammates, so he would have missed it.
Everton’s summer signing was on the radio talking about events from the weekend, as O’Hara issued this response to his claim, which Townsend found amusing.
“Let’s get one thing straight,” said O’Hara. “Your interview after the game, and I know you are trying to be respectful and to say ‘yeh, it was to show respect’.
“You knew exactly what you were doing. It was ****housery of the highest order. It was an absolute liberty at Old Trafford.
“You meant it. You knew exactly what you were doing. I’m not having it.”

Whilst all the talk was about Townsend’s celebration, all was forgotten about the deserved point Rafa Benitez’s side picked up.
It has been some start for the new Spaniard and his new signings are showcasing their worth.
In recent years, the Toffees have splashed the cash in the market, only to probably stagnate and make their squad worse.
But given that FFP didn’t allow them to spend this summer, it seems to have been a blessing in disguise.
