Kalvin Phillips has been speaking to the Daily Mail, where he discussed Manchester City’s 7-0 win over Leeds back on December 14th.

What’s the story?

Well, Leeds suffered their biggest loss under Marcelo Bielsa at the hands of Pep Guardiola, as the Citizens ran riot at the Etihad Stadium.

Phillips was forced to watch that game on TV due to injury, and he admits he started to become angry as his teammates were hammered.

The 26-year-old said: “I was close to changing channel, I’m not gonna lie, but I had to stick with them. I watched with my girlfriend and she keeps quiet if she sees me getting angry. But City can do that to any team.”

We don’t blame him – it must’ve been torturous for the England international to watch that happen.

It was the heaviest defeat of Bielsa’s managerial career, and really added to the relegation fears around Elland Road this season.

Kalvin Phillips must be desperate to return for Leeds

It’s hard enough to suffer poor results while actually playing, but in many ways, it’s even more difficult to take while out injured.

Phillips surely knows he would have a big influence on results if he were fit, as he’s arguably the best player at Elland Road.

Unfortunately, the Leeds No.23 isn’t expected to be back until February, so Bielsa will somehow have to find a way to cope without his midfield stalwart until then (The Telegraph).

Phillips suffered the injury during the 2-2 draw against Brentford.

If Leeds can avoid being cut adrift until then, we’re confident they’ll survive in the Premier League this season.

With Patrick Bamford, Robin Koch, Luke Ayling and others also missing for large parts of this season, things certainly haven’t been easy for the Whites.
