Clinton Morrison has stated that it’s a ‘difficult one’ in regards to Eddie Howe possibly becoming Newcastle’s next manager, as he told Soccer Special (03/11/21 at 7:20 pm).

The former striker added ‘I am not giving you stick’, as he shared that he has been criticised for his previous comments about Newcastle.

After over two weeks of trying to find a replacement for Steve Bruce, it seems as though Howe is going to be the first man in the St James’ dugout under the new ownership, according to Sky Sports.

If that’s the case, then the Toon Army faithful will be grateful that a better coach than Bruce will be in their dugout and one with an attack-minded philosophy.

But Morrison was seemingly unsure about Howe taking over because of the ‘huge job’ at hand.

“It’s a difficult one,” said Morrison. “He did a good job at Bournemouth, but this is a huge job.

“You need to keep Newcastle in the Premier League and you need to have someone with that experience. I know he did it at Bournemouth.

“But these owners haven’t come in to run a Championship club, no way. It’s difficult. Once you get in that championship, it’s difficult to get out.

“Can you attract the same players? No. It’s really difficult. But every time I talk about Newcastle, I come off this show and there will be people messaging me saying ‘why are you always giving Newcastle stick?’

“I am not giving you stick. I think you are a huge club. I want you to do well. But if you don’t employ the right man, then you are going to be in big trouble.”

Newcastle need to look at the positives to this possible appointment and that they could now have someone in the dugout for Brighton.

Added with that, it’s an attack-minded coach that suits the players at the club, the likes of Callum Wilson, Joe Willock and Allan Saint-Maximin, to name a few.

Then there is the aspect of him previously working with Wilson, Matt Ritchie and Ryan Fraser, especially the former because he is going to be the one tasked with scoring the goals that keeps the club up.
