Ian Wright told ITV’s Euro 2020 highlight’s show (29/06/21 at 11:00 pm) that he’s ‘not fussed’ that people were questioning Tottenham striker, Harry Kane.
On Tuesday, the Tottenham hitman, scored his first goal of Euro 2020, as England knocked Germany out of a major tournament in front of a jubilant Wembley crowd.
Before the game, a lot was made about the Tottenham man’s form, but when it mattered most, during the knockout stages, he made sure he put the ball into the back of the net.
And Wright reacted to what he’s hearing about the Tottenham man after yesterday’s result.
“I am not fussed about people talking about how sharp he is, what he’s not doing or is he injured and that,” said Wright.
“The fact is if Harry Kane stays in and around there, like I said from the start, then he’ll take half-chances for us.
“If you get that ball in that area of the box, and Harry Kane is in there, then he will score.”
Given that he does it with Tottenham a lot and Kane just likes to get involved, he will always drop that little bit deeper than fans would want him to.
But for Kane, it’s all about the service, and in truth, it was lacking during the group stages when Jack Grealish wasn’t on the pitch.
When the Villa man was either playing through the middle or drifting out on that left-hand side, Kane was more alive, but most importantly, chances were created for him.
And even though Grealish was on the pitch for a small about of time yesterday, he literally put the ball on Kane’s head, and he did the rest.
