Neil Lennon has categorically denied that Celtic will try to loan out Leigh Griffiths this summer.
Griffiths’s role at Celtic has come under serious question after his manager slammed his professionalism last week.
The 29-year-old striker was left behind by Lennon for the pre-season trip to France after returning to training in an ‘overweight’ condition following the lockdown last month.
Patryk Klimala then scored in a friendly against Nice to suggest he could be Odsonne Edouard’s primary competition next term, not Griffiths.
But Lennon has revealed to The Scottish Sun that he hasn’t even considered farming out the Scottish marksman, intimating that he’s had good reports about him since last week.
He said: “I’m not even considering that at the minute. He’s been coming on but we’ll assess him when we get back.”
Keeping Griffiths is absolutely the best course of action here.
Yes, he apparently gained a bit of weight over the past few months, but this is a phenomenal goalscorer and one that can help Celtic reach 10-in-a-row come next May.
He scored 40 goals during the 2015-16 campaign and Lennon will know what a massive asset he could be.
