Brondby manager Niels Frederiksen is losing no sleep about the potential departure of reported Arsenal and West Ham United target Jesper Lindstrom, speaking to Bold.

Highs and lows are just part of the journey for any young player still learning his trade.

And it was always likely that famine would follow the feast for one of the brightest talents in Scandinavian football.

In 22 league games, Lindstrom has produced 18 goals and assists (nine apiece) for Danish giants Brondby.

But, despite a hat-trick of assists against Odense recently, there are concerns about the 21-year-old’s form, especially since Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and David Moyes’s West Ham made their interest known (Jeunes Footeaux).

And, while acknowledging that Lindstrom was not at his brilliant best during the 1-1 draw with Aarhus last time out, Frederiksen believes it is only a matter of time before the gifted attacking midfielder is dominating games again.

“I think he worked hard and did everything he could. He did not succeed so much with the actions he succeeded with in the autumn,” Frederiksen says.

“He has had a harder time succeeding in the spring but he is still involved in many good things, I think. He will find his highest level again, I have no doubt about that.”

A move to the Premier League will undoubtedly appeal to the Denmark U21 international. But the rumours are not exactly keeping Frederiksen up at night.

“I’m never worried when our players perform well,” he said when asked about the reported interest of Arsenal and West Ham.

“If it results in some sales, because they can move on in their careers and go to a higher level while making the club some money, then I have sort of just done my job.

“If we should lose someone, then I am also sure that we will get the (financial) compensation that means that we will not be weaker.”
