Robbie Savage has stated that he is ‘lost for words’ after a supporter was critical of David Moyes and West Ham’s recent transfer business, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
The West Ham supporter questioned why the club didn’t strengthen in January, how there surely are defenders better than Issa Diop in the transfer market and how this is a chance the club might rue given that they currently hold fourth spot in the Premier League table.
From the teams chasing Champions League football this season, only Spurs added to their ranks last month – and they have since last three games on the bounce.
Manchester United dealt with more outgoings, Wolves were largely happy with their business and Arsenal didn’t bring in a single player, despite letting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang go.
But when Moyes was getting stick for the club’s lack of business, it didn’t sit well with ex-midfielder, Savage.
“I am lost for word here,” said Savage. “West Ham are fourth in the Premier League. Above Manchester United, Arsenal, Wolves, Spurs, FA Cup winners Leicester, Leeds, Everton and Newcastle.
“They have done great in Europe. They have done great in the FA Cup and okay in the League Cup.
“And you are having a go at David Moyes? What on earth is going on? West Ham are fourth! Is that Moyes’ fault they haven’t signed anyone?”
Moyes has proven in the past that he probably has to see and scout a player ten times over before bringing him to the club.
Throughout his coaching career, he has proven that he has an eagle-eye and he can spot an unknown talent from nowhere.
The likes of Seamus Coleman, Steven Pienaar and Marouane Fellaini were examples at Everton.
Whilst Thomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal are also showcasing their worth at the London Stadium after being signed out of the blue.
