Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react after the Guardian revealed that Abdoulaye Doucoure has broken his foot.
What’s the story?
Well, this is absolutely devastating news for Everton.
Rafa Benitez has only just announced that Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s comeback from injury will take longer than expected (Liverpool Echo).
Richarlison is also currently absent as well – the Brazilian is suffering with a knee problem, but could be fit to face Watford on Saturday.
Now, the Toffees will be without one of their most important players, if not the most important at Goodison Park.
Doucoure has fractured a metatarsal, and will require surgery.
The Guardian believe he suffered with a similar problem last season.
It comes amidst a time where Fabian Delph and Andre Gomes are also out injured, so Benitez has a big problem in midfield.
Everton need Abdoulaye Doucoure

Doucoure is one of those players who is just absolutely pivotal, and things fall apart when he isn’t around.
The Frenchman offers a towering presence in the middle of the pitch, and has already contributed heavily to Everton’s success this season.
Impressively, the £20m man has scored two goals and provided four assists in eight Premier League appearances this season.
Only Paul Pogba has more assists.

Now, it’s time for the likes of Allan and Tom Davies to step up and prove they can deputise for the £75,000-a-week Doucoure.
Nevertheless, it’s a huge blow for Everton and their hopes for this season.
For now, let’s see what the Everton fans on Twitter have been saying about the news…
