Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has told the Shields Gazette that he has been informed that it is the Premier League who are delaying the takeover.

Newcastle have been waiting to hear whether their potential new owners are going to be approved for well over two months now, with the future of the club very uncertain.

When the rumours initially started there was great excitement about the possibility of a new era at St. James’ Park, but as time has gone on the situation has just dragged.

And Bruce has now started to put pressure on the Premier League to hurry up and make a decision.

“I think everybody needs a bit of clarity,” Bruce said.

“I’m led to believe it is the Premier League that’s stalling all of these negotiations, and if that’s the case, they need to come and make a decision sooner rather than later. It’s not healthy for anybody.”

If Newcastle are taken over Bruce’s own future at the club is far from sorted, as there have been suggestions that he could move on.

Bruce has done a credible job at Newcastle this campaign, in terms of results, but there are question marks over whether he is the right man to lead the club into a new era.

Newcastle have already been linked with some high profile players and managers ahead of the takeover, with their new owners thought to have big plans for the years ahead.
