Todd Cantwell will return to the Premier League next season – but will he be donning the colours of Norwich or Aston Villa? Or someone else perhaps?
The quick-thinking playmaker enjoyed a fruitful spell the last time his boyhood club were in the Premier League and he has improved even further despite dropping down a division this season.
Whilst Cantwell isn’t on the level of Aston Villa’s very own creative king, Jack Grealish, he does have that swagger and ball carrying ability about him.
Therefore, Villa fans will be pleased to hear that the Daily Mail are reporting that those in the B6 boardroom are keen to add him to their talented ranks when the transfer window re-opens in the summer.
Those rumours have resulted in Norwich fans providing a mixed reaction, as they will be hoping their now pocket-filling Premier League status will provide them with more power to keep hold of their star players.
Whilst Cantwell hasn’t been Norwich’s standout performer during their promotion back to the big time, he still has played a pivotal part, alongside another light-footed dazzler and perhaps their main man, Emi Buendia.
Aston Villa have shown since their promotion that they have the financial power to lure talents like Cantwell away from their clubs.
And with Dean Smith’s side proving in recent weeks that they lack that cutting edge and spark without the injured Grealish, a player like Cantwell might just be very useful.
