‘I’m jealous as a Tottenham fan’: Jamie O’Hara wowed by Arsenal’s ‘brilliant’ transfer call

Jamie O’Hara says he is ‘jealous as a Tottenham fan’ of Arsenal securing the transfer of England midfielder Declan Rice from West Ham United.

The former Tottenham midfielder described the capture of the 24-year-old, which is a club-record transfer fee, as a ‘brilliant’ signing for Mikel Arteta, as he told talkSPORT.

But the outspoken pundit did warn that Arsenal ‘shouldn’t get carried away’ amid talk that they can win the Premier League title next season.

Declan Rice has been brought in to play his part in trying to help Arteta’s side over that line after they blew up during the final few weeks of the previous season.

Whilst the Gunners came up against one of the greatest sides English football has ever seen, they did help them along the way by collapsing and handing Pep Guardiola another trophy.

One of those games included their 2-2 draw at the London Stadium, which saw Rice dispossess Thomas Partey of the ball that started Arsenal’s collapse, but now he is on the other side, with O’Hara sharing his honest thoughts.

“They have signed Declan Rice,” said O’Hara. “Brilliant signing. Don’t get me wrong. I am jealous of it as a Tottenham fan.

“But let’s not get carried away (amid talk that they can win the PL title next season). They have a long way to go. All teams are improving.”

Tottenham and Arsenal next season

It was chalk and cheese between the two sides last season, even though Spurs went into the campaign full of confidence because they had beaten their rivals to the final Champions League place the season before.

Whilst Arsenal sat at the top of the table for large parts, their rivals, despite a strong start, ended up sacking their manager and finishing outside of Europe altogether.

Not only that, they had to suffer defeats, both home and away, to Arteta’s men, as many will be backing those from the Emirates to come out on top again next season, but if Harry Kane stays put at Hotspur Way, then nothing should be ruled out from Tottenham’s perspective.
