Manny Perez has revealed to The Scottish Sun that he’s champing at the bit in regards to finally kick-starting his Celtic career.
The 21-year-old joined the Hoops way back in January of 2019.
To put that into context, it was Brendan Rodgers who brought him to Celtic.
But work permit issues have prevented the American from beginning his career in Glasgow, with Perez being on loan with North Carolina FC right now.
That being said, this loan arrangement comes to an end in November and there is renewed optimism from Perez that he can finally take his place at Lennoxtown.
He said: “I’m in love with Celtic. We have the best fans in the world. I have a Celtic TV account, so I’ve been keeping up with the games.
“If I can get my permit to go through, we can just move forward from there. My agent and I are trying to sort things out, and have been in constant communication with the club. Hopefully we’ll be able to work it out soon.”
The good news for Perez is that he’s a right-back, so he might well have a role to play at Celtic if he can obtain the necessary clearance to ply his trade in Europe.
Neil Lennon obviously has young Jeremie Frimpong, perhaps the most exciting young player in Scotland, but beyond that the Hoops aren’t exactly flush with right-back options and that definitely should motivate Perez.
Rodgers signed a lot of players who didn’t quite make it at Celtic but, by the same token, there were some rough diamonds in there too and hopefully for the Bhoys, this lad can be part of the latter bracket.
