Newcastle United made it three wins-in-a-row as Eddie Howe’s side secured a 1-0 victory against Aston Villa, with Kieran Trippier scoring the sole goal of the match.

The England international bagged yet another free-kick as the Toon put some much-needed space between them and the relegation zone, with Trippier’s goal putting Newcastle four points ahead of the drop.

The former Atletico Madrid defender, who was PIF’s first signing as owners of Newcastle, has been in exceptional form since arriving on Tyneside, with Trippier taking the captain’s armband against Villa.

And it was the fullback who was again the star of the show, with Trippier’s excellent set-piece goal winning the three points for Newcastle in what is another massive result for Eddie Howe’s side.

Trippier was on the scoresheet in Newcastle’s last Premier League game when the defender scored another fantastic goal from a free-kick, and whilst his effort against Villa was a bit luckier, the striker was still as big as his hit against the Toffees.

With both Watford and Norwich City losing this weekend, the Magpies have made some serious ground on separating themselves from the bottom-three, and Trippier’s goal in the opening half has built on the hope that Toon can survive the drop.
