Liverpool supporters have spotted what Mohamed Salah messaged Philippe Coutinho after his heroics for Aston Villa on Satutrday night.

The former Liverpool magician reminded fans of the Anfield outfit why they adored him throughout his spell on Merseyside.

On his Aston Villa debut, Coutinho, whom Steven Gerrard signed on loan from Barcelona, grabbed a goal and an assist during an inspirational 22-minute cameo in last night’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United, who were leading 2-0.

Salah and the Brazilian maestro were Reds’ teammates for a relatively short period, prior to the latter moving to Spain in a £142 million transfer.

But the Liverpool attacker responded to Coutinho’s post-match message on Instagram, posting flame and applause emojis in response to the 29-year-old thanking Villa supporters for the warm welcome.

And here’s how Reds fans reacted to the exchange on Twitter:

Return

You know, if he maintains this standard throughout his loan in the Midlands, some of the Liverpool faithful will ask why Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards weren’t in the reckoning to bring him back.

Okay so to most supporters he burned his bridges forever in deciding to join the Camp Nou outfit.

But others clearly would’ve welcomed him back with open arms – especially on a six-month loan.

Let’s not pretend that Liverpool – who are 14 points behind Manchester City with two games in hand – couldn’t have done with the extra bit of quality from now until the end of the campaign.

And with Thiago Alcantara sidelined, one of their creative outlets, perhaps it’ll be a legitimate question to ask of Klopp if he should’ve re-signed the Barcelona dud over the coming weeks.

For now, all he did was score and grab an assist for Aston Villa but the more he shines, the more eyebrows will raise over why Liverpool weren’t interested.
