Patrick Bamford has told BT Sport that he is “good to go” in regards to his fitness after the Leeds United striker looks to finally overcome almost a year of constant injury issues. Leeds face Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
Bamford, 29, managed just 10 senior appearances for Leeds last season. This time around, he has only managed four Premier League appearances out of a possible six. Starting against Wolves and Southampton, issues remain.
But the one-time England international is back fit, and just before the international break, scored a hat-trick with the 21’s in a 6-2 win over Southampton. He is expected to lead the line against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
Indeed, Bamford gave an update regarding his fitness to BT Sport in their Big Interview programme. He says he is ready to play, citing the postponing of two games and the international break allowing him to get back up to speed.
“I’m good to go. I’m just getting back up to speed. It was unfortunate the two games were postponed but for me. It has given me that extended period to get back up to speed, training everyday. Back in the swing of things.”

Leeds will be delighted to hear that Bamford is good to go. Now, they will be hoping that the ex-Chelsea striker is now putting all of his injury nightmares behind him – and can finally start to get back to his levels of 2020-21.
It will be like a new signing for the Whites. Having a striker that has shown in the past he can score north of 15 goals in a Premier League campaign. Even his pressing, his ability to dictate two centre-backs, is crucial to the Whites.
Leeds fans will be hoping he is given the nod on Sunday and possibly gets 60 minutes under his belt. Especially, given it is against Aston Villa. A club he scored a hat-trick against during the club’s first season back in the top tier.
