Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter are at a loss to explain why Jose Mourinho failed to use Carlos Vinicius on Thursday night.

Spurs’ hopes of winning the Premier League title suffered a big blow by losing 3-1 to Liverpool in North London last night, falling seven points behind Manchester City at the summit.

Tottenham were rocked at half-time when Harry Kane came off injured but instead of replacing him with Vinicius, Mourinho introduced winger Erik Lamela.

The big striker joined the Lilywhites on a season-long loan from Benfica last summer but for whatever reason, the Portuguese coach doesn’t seem to rate him all that much.

Vinicius has been fit for virtually the entire season but has only managed 24 minutes of Premier League football, spread across four appearances.

Mourinho’s side didn’t fashion a shot on Liverpool’s goal after halving the deficit through Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on 49 minutes, illustrating that Lamela didn’t have a huge effect on the hosts’ attack.

Here’s how some Tottenham fans reacted to the fact that Vinicius was overlooked yet again.
