What a performance by Dejan Kulusevski for Tottenham Hotpsur on Friday.
The Lilywhites enjoyed a morale-boosting victory Motherwell in a friendly encounter yesterday.
Kulusevski helped Spurs to a 4-0 win by scoring one himself and setting up other goals for Bryan Gil and Matt Doherty.
The Sweden international has had an outstanding first 11 months in North London following a loan move from Juventus last January.
And Doherty was gushing over his teammate at full-time, to the point where Kulusevski added that he was feeling emotional about the effusive praise.
Doherty told Spurs’ official website: “He understands players’ games around him, understands my game, that I like to combine and link, so when I give him the ball, he knows that he can lay it off, one-touch, so we link well together. He’s a pleasure to play with and it’s we’re glad to have him back.”
And responding to the Irishman’s comments, Kulusevki added: “I’m going to go and cry now.”
Kulusevski is one hell of a footballer and he could be massive for Spurs throughout the second half of the campaign.
The wide forward has established himself as a source of goals under Conte, even when Harry Kane and Son Heung-min aren’t scoring themselves.
And when he was out of the side earlier this season due to injury, you could see the lack of energy and urgency in Tottenham’s performances as a result.
Of course, he won’t be playing against Motherwell every single week until June, but he is more than capable of tormenting Premier League defences as well and no doubt he’ll be champing at the bit to return to that.
