Speaking on the Official Leeds United Podcast, Patrick Bamford has given his honest verdict on Harry Kane’s disallowed goal last weekend.
The striker had an effort chalked off against Leeds for what is likely to be the most marginal offside decision VAR ever gives, but Bamford didn’t quite see it that way.
Indeed, the striker thought that Kane was actually miles offside when he saw it, but after seeing replays he says that Spurs may have been a little bit hard done by.
“Not really it was comfortable and then when the Harry Kane goal went in, I’m going to be honest, I thought it was miles offside from the other end of the pitch, so I didn’t know what they were waiting so long about and then yeah they were a little bit hard done by, so yeah,” Bamford said.

This just goes to show the issues we had before VAR.
There’s every chance that a linesmane would have seen it exactly the same way as Bamford and flagged for offside, and if he had, the assistant referee probably would have received a lot of praise for getting such a marginal call right.
Instead VAR steps in and makes the right decision and is blasted for sucking the life out of football, it’s very much a double-edged sword that we could debate all day.
Unfortunately for Tottenham, it was disallowed and they lost 3-1.
