Nacer Chadli is enjoying a superb second season for Tottenham.
Nacer Chadli has enjoyed an impressive season for Tottenham so far, even scoring the club’s goal in the recent North London derby.
He has now linked back up with the Belgian international squad ahead of their World Cup qualifiers, and been speaking to the media regarding his progress this campaign.
Chadli says he is enjoying playing under new head coach Mauricio Pochettino, and is glad he himself stayed at the club this summer.
He is quoted by newspaper Nieuwsblade: “There was some interest but a transfer was never really there. I never thought to leave.
“At Spurs I wanted to fight for my place, because I know I have a lot of beautiful things to show.
“The new coach has a different way of training, and that pleases me. Also my role in the system suits me.
“Either I play as a second striker, in support of Adebayor, or on the flank. That depends on the opponent. I find that I have become more efficient.”
In a quarter of the games, Chadli’s goals have rocketed past his last season total of one in the league, and he is on course to pass his number of assists.
| Season | Goals | Assists | Appearances | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nacer Chadli | 2014-2015 | 4 | 1 | 6 |
| Nacer Chadli | 2013-2014 | 1 | 3 | 24 |
Tottenham simply need him to come back in one piece from international duty and carry on where he left off, for the £7 million fee paid for his services is beginning to look like an outstanding piece of business.
