Bryan Gil has completed his first training session as a Tottenham Hotspur player.
Spurs signed the Spain international from Sevilla in July but due to his participation in the Olympics, only arrived at Hotspur Way earlier this week.
Tottenham kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Manchester City on Sunday.
And although it might be too early to throw Gil into the mix, the fact that he’s training is a very good sign.
The Lilywhites released footage of the 20-year-old’s first session at Hotspur Way on Thursday – and here’s what some supporters are saying on Twitter:
Still young
It must be remembered that Gil is still a very young footballer and time must be afforded him.
The fact that he’s just one of two outfield players to join Tottenham in this transfer window won’t do him any favours because that in itself increases pressure, especially considering that he’s the only attacking star to join – Cristian Romero, a centre-back, being the other.
The Spanish winger clearly has a lot of potential and it’ll be fascinating to see how his first year in North London pans out.
But head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has a responsibility to ease him into things, rather than throw him in at the deep end.
