West Ham United have been dealt yet another blow, with Jonas Wind telling Klubhuset that he has no plans to leave Copenhagen at the moment.
Another day, another striker target slipping through David Moyes’ fingers.
After missing out on Moussa Dembele and being snubbed by Youssef En-Nesyri, West Ham have less than a week remaining before the February 1 transfer deadline.
With purported moves for Graziano Pelle, Josh King, Gaetan Laborde and more seemingly hitting the buffers, there is a very real chance that teenagers Mipo Odubeko and Oladapo Afolayan will have a big part to play between now and the end of the season.
The Telegraph reports that West Ham have a long-standing interest in Denmark international Wind.
But, with a further four years left on his contract, the 6ft 3ins target man is in no rush to depart arguably Scandinavia’s biggest club.
“I do not think so much about moving forward right now. I’m fine here and I want to win some things here first,” said Wind, who won the Danish league title in 2019 but lost out to Midtjylland last term.
“So I do not think so much about (leaving). But, of course, I am also aware that if I keep doing well, then there are clubs from outside who will keep an eye on me.
“You probably have to move on one day. We have to see where I end up one day, but I’m not in a hurry.”
A move to West Ham has not been completely ruled out then. But what’s clear is that Wind will not be pulling on that iconic claret and blue kit before Sunday, when the window slams shut.
Wind has scored seven goals in 13 games this season.
