Noel Whelan praised Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford on BBC Radio Leeds (5:20pm, November 7, 2020).
The former Leeds striker, who now works as a pundit for BBC Radio Leeds, has been impressed by how Bamford has played for the Whites in the Premier League so far this season.
The former Chelsea and Nottingham Forest striker scored a goal and had one disallowed during Leeds’s defeat to Crystal Palace in the league at the weekend.
Whelan said about Bamford on BBC Radio Leeds (5:20pm, November 7, 2020): “Seven goals, it’s quite incredible. He must have worked really hard, and he must have put a lot of belief into his game. That’s not easy when you’ve taken a bit of flak as well throughout a season and a half.
“I’m really pleased that he’s now finding his form and really thriving in the Premier League because people doubted whether he could actually do it – and I was one of them. So I’m eating my words.”
Proving his doubters wrong
Bamford has improved a lot this season, and the English striker is now scoring goals regularly.
True, the 27-year-old still misses chances, like the one against Leicester City last week, but all strikers miss chances.
The Englishman has scored seven goals and provided one assist in eight Premier League matches for Leeds so far this season, according to WhoScored.
During the 2019-20 campaign, Bamford scored 16 goals and provided two assists in 45 Championship games for the West Yorkshire club, according to WhoScored.
For Leeds to have a successful season in the Premier League this season, Bamford will have to bang in the goals at regular intervals.
