Piers Morgan has called on his beloved Arsenal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United this summer.
Ronaldo reminded English football what a gargantuan palyer he still is on Saturday by scoring a stunning hat-trick in the 3-2 victory over Norwich City at Old Trafford.
That was his 60th career treble and given that he is 37, well it’s safe to say that he remains a monstrous goalscorer.
And that’s precisely what Arsenal need.
Mikel Arteta’s outfit have lost their last three Premier League games, scoring one goal – a deflected effort from Martin Odegaard – during that period of defeats.
Come June, Folarin Balogun might be the Gunners’ only recognised striker by virtue of the fact that Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are out of contract – and Balogun is only 20, which sums up the North Londoners’ problem in this regard.
And Arsenal-daft Morgan believes that a summer move for Ronaldo makes sense.
Will Arsenal sign Ronaldo?
Well, no.
Ronaldo is out of contract in the summer of 2023 and although Arsenal could afford a transfer fee, the Red Devils would never in a million years sell to a Premier League rival.
Besides, the five-time Champions League winner is also earning in the region of £510,000 per week, which comes in at around £26 million per year.
And considering Arteta and Edu have been targeting players under the age of 25 these past couple of years, well Ronaldo just doesn’t fit the profile of player they want.
