It was quite the press conference on Monday involving Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk and his Holland coach Louis van Gaal.
The Netherlands will take on Norway in their World Cup qualifier on Tuesday and the build-up to the game has had its drama.
Van Gaal injured his hip after he fell off a bicycle whilst going into training with the Dutch national side.
As a result, he ended up in a wheelchair, which couldn’t fit into the press conference room, so he had to do his pre-match duties via a live stream link.
It left Van Dijk on his own in the press conference room and the Liverpool man couldn’t help but laugh at some of the comments that his manager was making regarding his fall and injury.
Van Gaal was asked during his presser if he feels any pain to which he responded ‘Yes, that’s why I am in a wheelchair’.
Added with that, the 70-year-old stated that he was in pain, but he had a ‘clear brain’.
Of course, what he was meant to say was that he had a ‘clear head’.
All in all, Van Dijk, whilst sitting on his own, couldn’t help but burst into laughter now and again.
Fans loved the Liverpool player’s reaction and how he was seeing the funny side to this all.
Of course, the most important thing is that Van Gaal is fine and his straight-talking ways just made all of this sound better than it should have been.
It seems as though he will have to watch Holland’s game against Norway tonight from the sidelines, rather than take to the technical area.
Although, he isn’t the type of manager that is all-action, like an Antonio Conte would be when he is on the side of the pitch.
Nonetheless, this is how fans reacted to footage of Van Dijk laughing at some of the responses Van Gaal was giving regarding his recent fall and injury:
