Pep Guardiola has lavished praise on to Roberto De Zerbi, who has been heavily linked with the Tottenham Hotspur manager job.

As Manchester City face Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday night, Football Daily shared a video of the Catalan boss waxing lyrical about the Italian tactician.

It was reported in April that Tottenham Hotspur had held talks with Roberto De Zerbi over becoming their next manager, as he has earned plaudits from Pep Guardiola yet again.

Pep Guardiola raves about Tottenham manager target Roberto De Zerbi

The 43-year-old has done an incredible job at Brighton, steering them to a place in the Europa League, despite replacing Graham Potter mid-season.

After Pep Guardiola previously said that he would ‘jump into a fire’ for Roberto De Zerbi if he was a player, he has now given his seal of approval to the Tottenham Hotspur manager target.

“Pay attention to what I’m going to say, because I am pretty convinced I am right in what I am saying: I’m pretty sure Roberto De Zerbi is one of the most influential managers of the last 20 years.”

Pep Guardiola explained why Tottenham-linked Roberto De Zerbi is a one-of-a-kind manager, saying, “There is no team playing in the way they play – it is unique. I had the feeling when he arrived in the Premier League that the impact would be great but I couldn’t expect he would do this in this short a time.”

“He creates 20-25 chances on average a game. He’s better by far than all the opponents, he monopolises the ball in a way I haven’t seen for a long. long time. Everyone is involved, the keeper is like a holding midfielder.”

“They deserve completely the compliments and the success they have.”

Pep Guardiola also likened Tottenham manager target Roberto De Zerbi to Michelin Star chef Ferran Adria.

“It’s like a Michelin star restaurant, it’s unique. In Catalunya, it was [a top restaurant] El Bulli; [head chef] Ferran Adria, the best cook for many, many years. He changed completely, completely, the cuisine. I think Brighton is playing with something unique, special. The way they move, the way they do.”

“It’s a good, incredible challenge for us to prepare the two finals.”

Shame for Tottenham that appointing him remains unlikely

Many would prompt Tottenham to do everything in their power to appoint De Zerbi, considering a manager such as Guardiola has heaped as much praise as he has on him.

However, that is easier said than done, especially after the ex-Sassuolo boss’ side have qualified for Europe.

It is worth saying that Roberto De Zerbi would have been tailor-made for the Spurs job.

In terms of not just transforming the club’s tactical blueprint for the better but that too in quick-time, he would been the ideal coach to come in at Hotspur Way.

De Zerbi has all the tactical acumen in the world to become an elite coach but Tottenham are unlikely to be in his destiny anytime soon.
