Leon Bailey has promised Aston Villa fans on his Instagram story that he is ‘coming for everything’ next season after a difficult opening campaign in Claret & Blue colours.
Last summer, Villa paid Bayer Leverkusen £25 million for Bailey’s services (BBC Sport), but injuries and a lack of form played a part in him struggling in the Midlands.
But, ahead of the new season, and another fresh start for the winger, he wants to put things right and showcase his true worth.
Well, he is determined to do that, as he posted the following message on Instagram, which fans across Villa Park, will just love.
“Talk the same talk you did last season,” he said. “New season incoming. I’m coming for everything they said I couldn’t achieve. Mark my words.”
BAILEY COULD FEEL LIKE A NEW SIGNING
Whilst Bailey struggled to get his engine going last term, one of his biggest problems was the constant injuries he was picking up and how that wasn’t allowing him to have any rhythm.
The tough rigours of the Premier League, its tough-tackling nature, high speed and highly-demanding ways clearly took a toll on his body to the point he was only able to muster back-to-back starts once.
That clearly needs to change and with Steven Gerrard handing the Jamaica star another chance, then if he can start games consistently for Villa, then he will feel like a new signing.
But if he continues to struggle, then those in the Villa boardroom will feel like they have made a mistake with this transfer.
Either way, this isn’t just a big season for Bailey, but Gerrard and the Villa players as the club chase European football.
