The prospect of Arnaut Danjuma joining Liverpool this summer has attracted a lot of speculation.
And as it turns out, the rumours had substance.
In April, Goal.com reported that the Villarreal winger would be Liverpool’s preference if the Reds were to lose Sadio Mane.
And with the Senegal international looking set to leave Anfield, suddenly Danjuma to Merseyside is becoming a lot more relevant.
During summer transfer windows, there’s a lot of bizarre rumours which frankly turn out to be rubbish.

But it looks like Liverpool genuinely do fancy the 25-year-old, who has revealed he’s been ‘informed’ that the Premier League giants are keeping an eye on him.
Danjuma, who has a £38 million release clause in Spain, told Sky Sports: “It’s a bit of a funny story, to be fair. We’ve all read what has been said in the press, but I am a quick learner. I did an interview in Holland saying I’m aware of the interest.
“They asked me if I was aware of it and I am, as everyone is. I’m aware of it, you are aware of it because it has been in the press. My phone literally went off all the time.”

Well although there is obviously interest, bringing him to Anfield isn’t a foregone conclusion.
That’s because Liverpool are concentrating on signing Darwin Nunez in an £85 million deal at the moment.
But the Uruguay international is a centre-forward, whereas Danjuma, as mentioned, would be a replacement for Mane out wide.
And the truth is that bringing Nunez to Merseyside could and probably would result in any attempt to sign the Villarreal hitman being shelved.
