Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has raved about Liverpool winger Diogo Jota to Goal.com.

Ederson is aware of the threat that the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star poses in the Premier League game between the two sides this weekend.

The Brazil International has said that he knows all about the 23-year-old from their time as rivals in Portugal, and has stated that he is not surprised by the impact he has already made at Liverpool.

Ederson told Goal.com about Jota: “I’m not surprised with the performances of Diogo Jota, because he is a player I already knew from Portugal. I have already played against him and I have known him for a while.

“Some people might be surprised by him, but I’m not. I know him well, I have watched his games and I played against him many times. I’m aware he’s a really talented and very good player.”

Brilliant Liverpool start

Jota joined Liverpool from Wolves in the summer of 2020 and has already proved to be a brilliant signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The 23-year-old winger scored a hat-trick for the Reds in the Champions League in midweek and is pushing for a start against City in the Premier League this weekend.

According to WhoScored, Jota has scored three goals in five Premier League matches and has scored four goals in three Champions League games for the Reds so far this season.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp includes Jota in the starting lineup against City or uses him as a substitute in the second half.
