Jamie O’Hara has been speaking to talkSPORT after Harry Kane released a statement to address rumours about his refusal to train at Tottenham.

What’s the story?

Well, the former Tottenham midfielder is having none of it.

Kane released a statement on Friday to inform supporters that he hasn’t been refusing to train, and he would be returning to N17 soon.

Interestingly, the 28-year-old says he will be returning ‘as planned’ to suggest that Tottenham knew when he’d be back all along.

Speaking to talkSPORT, O’Hara said: “All of a sudden Harry Kane might be thinking he needs to backtrack a little bit and get back onside with the Spurs fans. Are Spurs fans that fickle? Even though he’s the talisman, are you happy about it? I’m not happy about it, I’m annoyed.”

The self-proclaimed Tottenham fan clearly feels very strong about the England international’s actions.

In truth, O’Hara has every right to be annoyed – it was a strange statement, specifically the timing of it.

Why wouldn’t Harry Kane address the rumours sooner?

As aforesaid, the timing baffles us.

Kane has watched his name be trodden into the ground all week by people who believe he’s protesting against the club who made him.

His professionalism has been questioned, while even his most loyal supporters among the Tottenham fanbase have turned on him.

When seeing that happen all week, why would you wait until Friday to share your side of the story?

There’s definitely something fishy about Kane’s statement.

Only time will tell what happens, although it’s safe to say Kane has a bit of work to do in order to get the Spurs fans back on his side.
